The Smokers Club

The Smoker’s Club (The Club) seed sprouted in the Summer of 2010 by a group of friends seeking to merge both their love of music and medicinal medicine. While putting one in the air, the idea to create an event where everyone could celebrate their favorite hobby was planted. The Smoker’s Club was formed.

Founding members of The Club include Cinematic Music Group President, Jonny Shipes, Shiest Bubz founder of Legendary Purple City Byrd Gang, GFCnewyork founder Steve-O & Harlem’s own Smoke DZA & Southern Wonderkid Big K.R.I.T. Extended family includes Juicy J, Method Man, Chevy Woods, Curren$y, Fat Trel, Joey Bada$$, Pro Era, Cashius Green, The Jets, Mousa, Fiend, and CornerBoy P.

In March 2010, a one-off show was planned for the music festival SXSW. The Smoker’s Club’s SXSW tour date was headlined by a slew of hip-hop’s budding superstars like Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Dom Kennedy, Black Hippy, Smoke DZA, Big K.R.I.T., Devin The Dude, and more. With the 500-seat venue selling-out, it became clear that the fans were feigning for another high so a 24-city tour kicked off on October 5, 2010. By the time the tour hit the west coast, the crowds jumped from 400 fans to over 1,200 concert-goers. Founder Jonny Shipes explains, “I grew up off High Times and there was the “Up In Smoke Tour” which I used to go to when I was a kid. I loved Snoop, Cypress, Redman etc. Now, you have us and we’re just an extension of what we grew up on. We’re basically taking our lifestyle on the road to party with our Fans Smokin N Jokin feel me?.”

With the overwhelming success of the last tour, on October 12, 2011, The Smoker’s Club Tour will take off again in the summer of 2012 for a 30-city run with acts including Juicy J, Chevy Woods, Fat Trel, Smoke DZA, Cashius Green and many more. With double the venue sizes, The Smokers Club has become a steady growing family of music enthusiasts that love to Smoke N Joke. Bring ya’ lungs with ya’! GoodTalk.
