Top Rankin’: Gregory Isaacs – “The Cool Ruler”

The ‘Cool Ruler.’ A perfect way to describe Gregory Isaacs, whose smooth vocal sounds solidified Lover’s Rock (a style originated in London) into a legitimate sub-genre of Reggae music. Recording hundreds of tracks from the mid 1970’s right up until his death in 2010, Isaacs proliferation with love songs peaked in 1982 with the release of Night Nurse. Perhaps not the most vocal of his weed use, it is clear to see from this live recording of the title track, that Mr. Isaacs not only praised woman, but Jah as well. So, grab your partner and some herb and enjoy the Cool Ruler skanking away.
