There’s a new Mile High Club and while it won’t add a notch to your belt it will satisfy your lust for weed-flavored turkey.
Downtown Denver’s Cook’s Fresh Market is serving up a “Mile High club sandwich” by smoking their turkeys with cannabis. While the turkey isn’t actually infused with herbs–it’s just for flavor–the smokiness apparently adds a very present, noticeable touch of weed flavor to the meat.
So instead of wood, Cook’s tossed a bunch of flowers into the smoker for six hours:
“I was really surprised. It didn’t smell like marijuana burning, it had a sweet aroma, like a cherry wood and it was absolutely delicious,” owner Ed Janos told Next. “People are smiling, giggling. Some people are afraid to try it. Some people are like, wow, this is really good. So it’s — people are kind of surprised, and they’re talking about it.” [9News]
Since there’s no THC in the turkey, this publicity stunt (and what sounds like a dope club sandwich) appears to be in that legal, grey area loophole–which means Cook’s should keep cookin up this stoner’s delight.
However, Cook’s isn’t the first Denver-based company to smoke meats with buds. Two years ago, Rosenberg’s deli lit up the 4/20 scene with this infamous smoked salmon.
