.@Lyft and .@Uber Providing Free Rides in Colorado on 4/20

In an effort to discourage high driving, ride-sharing services Lyft and Uber will be offering free and discounted rides to and from the 4/20 festivities in downtown Denver, Colorado this Thursday.

According to the Cannabist, Lyft will, through their “320 Movement” partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation, offer free and discounted rides to and from official 4/20 events in Denver in the days leading up to and on 4/20 (April 18 through 20). According to Lyft General Manager Gabe Cohen, “Lyft is proud to join with CDOT in promoting this… safety-first message when it comes to cannabis consumption.”

For its part, Uber will be offering a $4.20 discount on rides to and from downtown Denver on 4/20 as part of an effort created in coordination with the Colorado State Patrol, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and Colorado dispensary Native Roots. Uber spokesman Tracey Breeden explained that “By providing people with safe ride options, we believe we are empowering them to make better, safer choices.”
