Washington Man Gets Pot DUI for THC Level 54 Times the Legal Limit, Sets New Highest THC Bar

There’s driving under the influence of weed, and then there’s driving under the influence of enough weed to get a whole college seminar stoned.

A 53-year-old man was busted driving with a THC level of 270 nanograms–or 54 times the state’s legal limit. It’s unclear how the man got off the couch and into a car, but he recorded the highest THC in the history of the state of Washington.

And yeah, he was unfortunately involved in an accident:

The Lynwood man had the highest THC concentration tested at the state lab since at least 2009, Trooper Heather Axtman told KOMO, calling his intoxication a “dangerous situation.”

About 20 minutes before getting pulled over, the man was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run collision near Interstate 5 and 176th Street.

Witnesses called 911 and followed the man’s car until troopers arrived to take him into custody.
Snohomish County prosecutors have not yet filed criminal charges against the man. [The Cannabist]

I’m all for driving after a hit or joint or two. But driving on this amount of THC–maybe edibles–is taking it a little extreme.
