After teaming up with Snoop Dogg on their successful show, Potluck Dinner Party, it was only a matter of time until marketing mogul Martha Stewart decided to try her green thumb in the cannabis industry.
The day has finally come.
And no, she won't be selling smokable wreaths or "pot-pourri." The magazine and television icon will be teaming up with Canopy Growth, the largest marijuana company in the world, to develop a line of high-end CBD products -- first for pets, and then eventually for their owners.
"I am delighted to establish this partnership with Canopy Growth and share with them the knowledge I have gained after years of experience in the subject of living," Stewart explained in a press release.
Shares of the umbrella corporation that oversees Stewart's brand and a host of others, Sequential Brands Group, were up 30 percent after the news broke. Apparently, shareholders had high hopes for the collaboration as well.
"As soon as you hear the name Martha, you know exactly who we're talking about," said Bruce Linton, Canopy Growth co-CEO. "Martha is one of a kind and I am so excited to be able to work alongside this icon to sharpen our CBD product offerings."
Canopy made headlines last year when Corona beer parent company Constellation Brands made a major investment in the company, signaling a shift in mentality of the "if you can't beat them, join them" variety. Canopy already partnered with Snoop in the past on his Leafs brand of cannabis.
We certainly wish Martha luck on her cannabis industry endeavors and can't wait until she starts selling human products we can try. Snoop, talk to your girl.
